Category:Road transport in India2018 is the year to send old ideas to oblivion, and for that I want to send a special, unusual call for papers to the Akademy in Kraków. The Kraków School of Combinatorics and Computer Science is one of the leading research institutions in the field. It consists of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wrocław, the University of Gdańsk, and the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Let us say thanks to the 2018 edition of the conference, where 20 projects were selected for funding, of which 12 were from Poland. The list of selected papers is online.

The role of autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) after first complete remission (CR) in patients with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) remains unclear. The authors retrospectively analyzed the efficacy and safety of autologous HSCT in patients with AML in first CR after induction therapy. From 1995 to 2007, 39 patients with AML in first CR were referred to the authors' center for autologous HSCT. Median age was 27 years (range, 13 to 63 years). Twenty-eight patients (73%) were in remission for 5 to 10 months (median, 6.5 months) after HSCT. Fourteen patients (36%) underwent HSCT with the conditioning regimen of the Berlin-Frankfurt-Münster group. The overall survival rate at 1 year was 46% (95% confidence interval, 32% to 58%) and the median overall survival duration was 6.7 months (95% confidence interval, 4.1 to 10.1 months). At a median follow-up duration of 21 months, 27 patients (69%) were alive with a median disease-free survival of 9.1 months (95% confidence interval, 5.2 to 13.3 months). Twenty-seven patients (69%) were in complete remission with a median follow-up of 18 months. The main cause of death was relapse (n=14) or infection (n=6).
